about.

Looking for a book to make you hap'BEE? Look no further. BEE’loved by many, the honey bee is super sweet. In this educational book for children ages 6-10 you’ll have fun learning all about the lives of honey bees. You’ll discover how long they live, what they eat, the many different roles that bees play during their life, and more! This book would be great for a classroom setting in which children are learning about insects and nature or for children at home who have an interest in bees. The engaging characters bring to life the different roles of bees, making learning fun. Unlike children's storybooks, this nonfiction book is loaded with facts and provides a good overview of honey bees.

I BEE a Honey BEE; All About the Life of a BEE was written and illustrated by graphic designer Jayme Kendall. Her parents' enjoyment of beekeeping inspired her to write this book. She wrote and illustrated the book in eight weeks as a homework assignment for a masters level publication class.

Below are some of the final hand-drawn character sketches for the book. Initially, Jayme drew a variety of styles until she found a style for the bees that she liked and, then, she continued to refine the drawings until she got to the renderings you see below. Next, she created digital color versions of the characters using Adobe Illustrator.

I picked this book like I do when I select other children's books to read for fun, and then I realized that I knew nothing about bees. So, for those adult readers who have the same thought, I hope you know everything about bees; otherwise, this book should be taken seriously. I haven’t read about a living thing once and grasped everything about it in just one read until I read this book, which is to say that the book was written in the simplest possible way with illustrations and also a very simple writing style. I recommend this amazing book to children and also to those who are interested in learning about the bee.

This is a great resource for kids to learn more about bees in a approachable way. It's easy for kids to be scared of bees, but they are an important part of our ecosystem, and are pretty remarkable in how they organize themselves to live and thrive in this world. We're planning to work this into a homeschool lesson about the nature around us. I like how the information is broken into bite sized chunks, so we can pepper bee facts into our learning. There are funny bee puns throughout too, which I know will make my kids laugh. There are cute illustrations, to help kids see the different roles and relationships in a bee colony. This is a great book!

Deserves 6 stars!!! Yes...this is a fantastic little book! Did you know that. to make 1 pound of honey, bees visit 2 million flowers!! Gosh, bees are our brilliant little friends. They pollinate (in other words enable proper growth) 75% of all crops. In other words: WE CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT BEES! This book gives you a great appreciation for the importance of bees on our planet and illustrates the information with great images and funny quirks and jokes. Brilliant book!

I loved this book. Even though I was knowledgeable about our buzzing friends, this resource is filled with exciting information. The bonus is that the author grew up with bees in her family and uses her graphic arts background to make this story blossom. Having 'bee' woven into each topic makes this a fun book for any age reader. It is an excellent book for the classroom or your family library --I Bee, a Honey Bee will create a buzz and exciting humorous conversation in either location. This is a one-of-a-kind gift or educational tool.

The honey bee population has been declining in recent years. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is the name given to the decline of honey bee colonies. There's speculation, but uncertainty about what's causing the decline.

Pollen from flowers is the most nutritious food for honey bees. Proper nutrition is needed for healthy bees with strong immune systems. Planting flowers helps sustain healthy thriving bees.
